The Call for Session Proposals has ended.
The Association of Environmental Professionals (AEP) 2010 Conference Committee is seeking panel and workshop proposals related to environmental policy or practice areas. Abstracts may be submitted for conference panel sessions, conference posters, and/or proposed workshops.
CONFERENCE PURPOSE AND GOALS
AEP’s 2010 Conference, hosted by the AEP Inland Empire Chapter is being developed as an interdisciplinary conference, intended to provide a professionally challenging forum to share new ideas and information related to a broad range of environmental issues. The Conference Committee has ambitious goals, seeking to create a unique Conference experience featuring exceptionally qualified speakers, interactive sessions, and insightful keynote addresses from environmental policymakers. The Conference backdrop includes a State of Emergency from our prolonged drought, a market meltdown that has rippled across agencies and industries, and a variety of new and challenging legislative changes at the State and Federal level.
UNIQUE CONFERENCE ELEMENTS
The AEP 2010 Conference will offer a unique blend of practical information, cutting edge technologies and methodologies, and emerging perspectives on new legislative and environmental policy. The Conference will be fun – intentionally set at the Hotel Zoso, a boutique four-star hotel in downtown Palm Springs, a truly walkable, “sustainable” venue with easy airport access, offering endless opportunities to enjoy downtown Palm Springs and environs. The Conference Committee is exploring unique methods for interactive sessions, such as live webcasting and the proprietary Quizdom technology (www.quizdom.com), as well as exciting mobile workshops, such as a San Andreas Fault tour by Jeep. The Committee is seeking high-level keynote speakers from the Schwarzenegger and Obama Administrations, addressing such issues as Climate Change policies and Regulatory trends. The Conference Program will include “Recommended Tracks” geared toward specific professional interests (technical practitioner, elected official, private industry, legal, etc). Conference panel sessions are being sought for a broad range of issues including, but not limited to, the following:
• NEPA Update & Federal Funding Process
• CEQA Update
• Sustainability & SB375 Compliance
• Noise
• Transportation
• Water Resources
• Air Resources & Climate Change

The scope of the Conference topics and panel sessions is intended to attract participation from National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP) members from within and outside California. The Conference will include opportunities for AICP credit, and is seeking accreditation from CLE.
SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS Please provide a brief description of your proposed session topic and approach, identifying all panel members. Abstracts should provide all relevant contact information for the submitter and panelists, and should generally be no more than one page in length (maximum of 300 words). Abstract submittals should include separate resume summaries (one page length) for all panel participants.
Session proposals will be evaluated by the Committee for applicability to the Conference goals and session themes noted above, as well as relevance to the intended audience. The Committee is seeking innovative panels presenting new information or insight into environmental practice and policy issues, with emphasis on practical hands-on tools and techniques.
Conference panel sessions will generally be 90 minutes in length.
Session rooms will be equipped with a speaker’s podium, LCD projector, electrical extension cord and screen. Please provide your own laptop. Additional Audio/Video or other requirements should be noted in your Session Proposal.
